In The End Mood Playlist!

*I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO ANY OF THE FOLLOWING MUSIC*

**SPOILERS AHEAD**

Here is the mood playlist for In The End! You can take this and use it as a list, or you can listen to the songs right here on the website! Hope you enjoy this one as much as the last two! (If you haven't read the It Starts With Me or the And So It Begins Mood playlists, I recommend checking those out before this one!)

Caught in the Fire by Klergy

Like its predecessors, the final installment has an opening song, though this one doesn't share the namesake (don't worry, that song is later). Though its job is the same: to set you up for the story to come. I imagine any cities that were left are now completely razed and burning, there are tents set up with horrid conditions with guards. I love my opening songs because they help catch the overall tone for where we are in the beginning.

Catch Fire (feat. Sam Tinnesz & Hulvey) by UNSECRET

More UNSECRET and more Sam Tinnesz. They've been staples among all of the book playlists so far. This is the song that I picture while Luke is fighting the AI. He's in his element, he's loving the release. This song fits the situation perfectly in my opinion. Most songs by Sam Tinnesz fit Luke moments for me.

Cult Leader by KiNG MALA

This is an interesting song for me because it truly gets me in the mindset for Ren Keres herself. I remember hearing this for the first time and absolutely loving it because it immediately pulled me into the story in my head. I decided to put this in with the first official chapter from her point of view because it's definitely "fun".

Darkness Falls by UNSECRET & Cece And The Dark Hearts

This is a very powerful song. I imagine this song the moment that Luke breaks the news of Emma to Amity. It's sort of a knees wobbling, heart dropping song. Amity's worst fear is true, her little M is gone and she has to face the reality of it. "There's nowhere to run when darkness falls."

Monster by Fight the Fade

This is Luke's song. There isn't an exact moment in the song that I imagine for the scene I'm about to name, but the overall idea of it seems to fit the theme. This is the song I picture when Luke is in the woods after/during messing with the subcopies. As the song builds, so to does his rage. Luke struggles with not wanting to be labelled a monster, and also knowing he is one. There is a fine balance and this is one where he dips a little below the line into monster territory. The song is a fitting anthem for Luke.

The End of Everything by Noah Cyrus

I first heard this song and knew it had the perfect off-beat lyrics to signify Amity and her father. When they are first reuinited, they have a conversation about love and how it might be a weakness and this song feels like a testiment to what advice her father gives her. It's one of my favorites on the playlist and fits so perfectly that I can't help but imagine them sitting, cuddled, on the couch, just reminiscing with one another.

Ready for War by Neoni & UNSECRET

This one I imagine is Amity's power song. It specifically pops into my head when Amity is talking with the Reaver about wanting Emma back. This is her "take back" song. Their first correspondence ended with "Darkness Falls", but this next one? Amity is ready for war!

Madman (feat. Hidden Citizens) by Sam Tinnesz

Did someone say Luke? Of course this song would be about him! This is the song for when Luke is facing off with the Reaver in their phone call. Really only the intro and the first verse fit for me, but they fit so well that obviously the whole song is placed here. This is basically the time he's finding out about his parentage and, well, finding out you're the progeny of evil would definitely make anyone into a madman!

IF NOT FOR YOU by Måneskin

I knew when I first heard this song that it would be Lacy and Sonya's wedding song. I imagine this is what's playing to signify their first dance as a married couple, and then I imagine it still plays as Luke and Amity dance together and she lets go for the first time in a while. It is everything and more for the scene. It fits all of the couples perfectly, even though Amity might not realize it at the time.

Born for This by The Score

I imagine this song when Amity and the gang shows up in the Undoing land; when she's being surrounded by those of the shantytown and they hold up the symbol of the rebellion. Sort of like a call to arms? Yeh. They were born for this.

Climb by ADONA

This is a very powerful song to me. Though in general I think of this as the growth of Amity Thorne, I have this song in the part where she sees everything the H.P.S. is doing to the American Liberation Force and all the destruction is going on around her in slow motion. Then she takes that first step. The most important step toward the family to save them. And it's a great juxtaposition because she sure as hell climbs high only to realize it's a very HARSH fall. If you know, you know!

Parasite Eve by Bring Me the Horizon

Bring Me the Horizon is one of my favorite bands, and when I heard this song, I actually imagined a movie trailer for In the End! But now it holds its place as the song for when the gang is fleeing from the Undoing Land Shantytown. I'm not sure there would be a more perfect placement for it!

The Violence by Asking Alexandria

This is the song for when the group encounters the Nameless Soldier that is technically Luke's Subcopy. The fighting, the tenseness, and the climax of Amity putting the bullet between his eyes. Most of the scene I imagine from intro to the end of the first chorus, but the entire song is a banger. It's as if it's the invitation for them all to say: Bring on the violence, Ren.

Outside the Lines by Birdtalker

This song is Amity and Luke's song. When they come together only for Luke to disappear on her. When Amity opens up once more, realizing just how important Luke is to her. I imagine some very sweet reconnection between them all night long with this song. It's bittersweet because, as we know, Luke leaves after. But for now, it's the perfect culmination of everything they've been through.

In the End by Black Veil Brides

I bet you were wondering where the namesake song would come in. Welcome to the End! This is the song that perfectly encompasses the book for me and is, of course, the namesake for this final installment.

This song fits best, for me, when help arrives from the H.P.S. after Amity threatens the General. Of course, we don't really get to see most of their planning and training montages in the book, however this is what that song did for me! All the way up until we it's time for Amity to be the bait.

Far From Home (The Raven) by Sam Tinnesz

When I think of Luke, I honestly think of Sam Tinnesz. Most of his songs capture Luke's essence perfectly. This one is a bit different from the other Luke songs in the past. This is raw.

This is the song that fit clear as day when Luke is walking out to kill Amity.

The way in which this song carries me, moves me, makes me feel, is incredible. The scene of Luke walking through the halls as if he were walking to his own death is so real to me when I hear this song. It's his apology, his plea, his personal forgiveness. I love it so much.

Home Again (feat. Aron Wright) by UNSECRET & Aron Wright

I cried the first time I heard this song because in my head popped the image of Amity Thorne finally meeting her sister again. I imagine Amity searching the crowd, worrying in her chest over Sarge, anxiety that maybe all of it was for nothing, that maybe she'd been wrong, only to meet the eyes of Emma in the sea of lost souls. I repeat: I CRIED.

Starting Over by Chris Stapleton

Though this sort of seems like a credits song, this one was always in my mind for after the Reaver was captured and Emma and Amity were reunitied. A sort of... calm before the storm if you will. Assuming you're not here reading spoilers, then you know that this is not the end, and that there are more enemies yet to be faced. But for now, it's light and it feels like the start of something new.

Phoenix by League of Legends Music, Caitlin Russo & Chrissy Costanza

I suppose there isn't really a specific scene for this song, but it is the ultimate climax song for Amity and her growth. At the end of Chapter Fifty-Two, Amity states "This whole thing started with me, and now I will end it." and that sort of captures exactly what the song is about. It's her taking charge, even if that means putting someone else in power. It's her realizing that she will not continue the death and destruction that everyone else is so keen to do. It's all about everything going on internally as opposed to the physical battles or wounds. It's definitely a favorite of mine.

Endgame by Klergy

Funny that Klergy always has the best bangers for just before the end. But this song falls for when Amity and Luke go to talk to Ren after the General's demise. Amity is still hopeful at this point that she can somehow get the Reaver to change and to repent. The song is powerful and, again, fits the angle of Amity and Ren perfectly.

Older Than I Am by Lennon Stella

I've always loved this song and felt it fit perfectly for everything that Amity has been through. Metaphorically and physically, of course, because in her head she's actually much younger than the years she should be. But that's just it, this song is what I imagine playing as the montage of her memories returns as Cateline restores it for her.

It's a bittersweet song, perfect for our lovely main character and in my head swirls all of those same memories when I hear it.

Heroes Never Die (feat. Krigarè) by UNSECRET

Just like its predecessors, In the End also has a credits song. I think this song really captures the essence of the entire series and ties it up nicely. It really speaks for itself and there's a sense of closure in my heart when I hear it becasue I know, truly, this is the end. And in the end, LOVE PREVAILS. It will always live on.
